A city council can't stop redevelopment, even when nobody can agree on what a "beerery" actually is.
Up & Coming is a mockumentary pilot that follows a small-town city council as it lurches toward its biggest redevelopment project yet: the town’s first-ever “beerery.” A documentary crew trails council members, business owners, and one very unlucky intern through pitch meetings, ribbon-cuttings, and a local news crew angling for the story, in the deadpan style of a workplace comedy. Thomas plays a City Development Worker on the council and served as the production’s 1st Assistant Director.
Filmed in the Upstate of South Carolina and released in the summer of 2023, the pilot was created, produced, and written by Joey Thompson and Sean Russel Herman.
